Sandy McCleary is the owner of, and a groomer at, Pawsitive Image. She has 25+ years of professionally grooming dogs, and a lifetime of working with animals. She has a certificate in animal health, and has worked in many grooming settings, from shops to kennels to vet offices. Sandy is also a certified Level 2 Reiki practitioner.
Sandy has trained with top groomers in other areas of the country, and makes it her priority to stay up-to-date on the current industry trends. In 2002-2004, she taught the grooming course at Thompson School of Applied Science at University of New Hampshire, and she has spent time volunteering in the grooming segment of the Dover High School’s vocational Animal Science program.
Animals play a large part in Sandy’s life, both professionally and personally. Even as a child, she was often seen around town walking her dog, bringing home a stray in need (or at least she thought it was in need) or riding her horse. One of her greatest joys in life is spending time with her two German Shepherds, Brady and Hope, doing nosework and competing at the national level, and hanging out with Mocha, a 23-year-old horse she bred and raised. Oh yes, and we must not forget the (human) grandchildren and family!!
Among Sandy’s current favorite sports is Competitive Scentwork. She attended the NACSW 2015 Nationals. In addition, she is currently certified as an Associate Nosework Instructor (ANWI™) with the National Association of Canine Scent Work (NACSW™), and has earned her CNWI (Certified Nosework Instructor) certification.
Sandy is a member of the National Dog Groomers Association of America (NDGAA), New England Pet Grooming Professionals (NEPGP), and the National Association of Canine Scent Work (NACSW), as well as a member and board member of Piscataqua Obedience Club.
